🥵Record heat index up to 110° again today. Severe storms could cool some of us down this afternoon.
High temperatures will be in the middle 90s. We have another Heat Advisory in place for a heat index up to 110°. We look at the heat index this time of the year because it tells us how high the humidity is in combination with the temperature. The higher the humidity, the higher the heat index. With more humidity, our body doesn't cool itself as efficiently. It's an important index to look at during heat waves like this.
Expect scattered thunderstorms to develop along the coastline this afternoon. The timing is mainly after 2pm through sunset. Some storms could be severe with large hail, damaging wind gusts, and excessive lightning.
There will be a slight drop in humidity by the middle of this week. Not much, but we are taking the edge off the heat.
Stay cool out there!
